AVO Performance Suspension

AVO - Performance SuspensionShock absorbers for Manta, Ascona, Monza and Senator can be seen at the AVO site. I have a set of AVO adjustable shock absorbers on my V8 Manta and originally had them on my 2.2 GTE. The shocks performed much better on my 2.2 but that was in combination with a set of Chassis Dynamics 40mm lowering springs which haven't all been fitted to the V8 yet.

When I originally took the 2.2 out for the first time with the AVO shocks in place I had them wound up to their maximum - The Manta handled like a go-kart and I could feel every bump in the road, so I took them down a few notches and it became a firm but not unpleasant ride :) They were something like 10 point front adjustable and 22 point adjustable at the rear. Somewhere around 75% was about right and I've been told its not a good idea to run them at 100% otherwise you can damage them. Whether that's true or not I don't know but fair advice.

I drove the 2.2 Exclusive GTE with the AVOs in place for about 6 months and was very pleased with them. The front shocks really made the car's handling much more positive and responsive - turn the wheel and it points straight away. With a good set of lowering springs, the handling and fun factor are improved no end. On the comfort side of things I was happy to run the shocks at 3/4 capacity though I did hear a few more squeaks and rattles from the car and the CD player did skip occasionally, so be warned.
